Finding The Reasons A Computer Is Slow

Computer Is Slow? Checkout Task Manager

Your should go into and look at your PC’s Task Manager ever so often and see what applications are running and if they are using up a lot of your memory. But a word of warning.. even if you are a little aggravated because the computer is slow… don’t just shut off applications and programs without knowing what they do.. you could really mess up!

computer is slowYou can open up the Task Manager by right clicking on an open spot on the lower tool bar of your desk top. Once it is open you will see the applications running and processes. The applications is where I will shut down a frozen browser window every once in a while (sometimes the site is overloaded, sometimes my computer is slow and is the culprit).

The processes is a little different and tricky. I would not advise shutting down a process without doing some good research first. You could type the name in “search” and go to its properties. But even then it could be a support for something you really need.

What I do like is on the bottom where it gives us the CPU and Physical Memory Uses. This is telling us how much of each capacity is being used right now. You can then look at the Processes and see what is using most of it. Give the computer time to settle down and look again. If the Physical Memory does not fall back to 50 to 65 percent you have a problem. The CPU should fall back to less than 20%… hopefully to 5 to 10 percent.

Try closing different programs that are running (not with the Task Manager though) and see if this helps. I would then suggest restarting the computer and before you open the browser or any other application check the Task Manager percentages again.

This little test tells you a couple of things to consider. First, your computer may not have enough RAM. The Physical Memory is just that – Random Access Memory. This can be added fairly easily to most computers. However, second consideration is the most likely help if your computer has gradually gotten slower. Second, your Window Registry is all clogged up.

The registry can certainly be the reason the computer is slow and that you need a good top registry cleaner to straighten it out. An easy check by the free scans we talked about in the earlier posts will tell you. You can Click Here to go to the site now. Or the other posts by clicking here: Top Registry Cleaner.
